I sure hope these grow .......

Yesterday I thought it was safe to plant the roses that I got at Big Lots. It's a good thing I waited this long because we had 2 big frosts last week.
This is what it looks like to the back of my house ....... woods and more woods. I planted most of the roses up close to the old fence. I planted 4 climbers near the fence.
I was real proud of myself for digging those deep holes, being that I am weak as a cat. After I finnished I went in to take a shower and this is what I found ! ! !

TICKS AND MORE TICKS ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
"
I picked between 15 and 20 of those little boogers off of me. I about had a "hissy fit". Do ya'll know what a hissy fit is ? I jumped up and down, screaming and hollering, said a few cuss words also ( forgive me Lord ). Had to call honey bunny to help me get all of them off. He said it reminded him of the country song " I'd Like To Look You For Ticks " LOL ! He told me he was going to get me a flea and tick collar . If there is a tick within a mile it will get on me . He is outside all the time and they never bother him ! Go figure !

I have lived in this area all of my life and I have never seen the ticks this bad before.

Ticks are disgusting! We live surrounded by woods and they are always present.

On a nicer note, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for your roses. I bet they will be great!

Wow, is there anything you can spray for them? It's hard to enjoy your yard if you have to watch out for them. Now hubby will have to check you daily to make sure there aren't any of those buggers on you...could be fun LOL

Have a wonderful weekend and a blessed Easter.

I HATE those little boggers! Like you, I'm like a tick attractant! I have just about given up working in my yard because there are just too many and they are soooooo tiny! Now that I'm alone and have no one to 'look me over', it's scary to think about getting them embedded and the problems they could cause. I sure hope your roses do well. You've earned it!!!

Many hugs..........

Eek Theresa, I would have had the worst kind of hissy fit. I do hope your roses will grow and be beautiful. You need a big reward for all that work and a fight with the ticks. Yikes. I once was waked up at 3 AM with the realization that there was a tick in my hair. Actually on the top of my head. I screamed and woke up Bill. We tried everything to get it out of my head. By the time we got it I was so shook up I had to wash my hair, change the beds, etc. etc. It was morning before I collapsed and went back to bed. LOL.

Wow, I am tired just telling you about it and my head is itchy. Don't laugh, I know I am a tick sissy.

Thanks your comment on my post. I know a little sign language. I wish I knew more.

Time for bed. Goodnight my friend. Stay away from your back yard.

Hugs...Jeanne

Oh, my gosh, girl...I would have had a runnin' hissy fit, for sure. I hate ticks with a passion. We don't have too many out here on the plains of West Texas, tho...thank goodness...
I hope your roses do just great and bet they will. I am going to buy some tomorrow...KnockOut roses...

That is just horrible. That's a lot of ticks! Reading through everyones posts is hilarious though, I think if we had all been in that situation in the same room it would have been really rough, all of us jumping around, hooting and hollering, would sure be something to see! Hope your roses do well!

I'm sorry about that.
Be careful, dear Theresa!
Nature is beautiful,
but sometimes not exactly.

Greetings and blessings to you!

Theresa, you had me laughing aloud. I would have been having hissy fits, too.

I can't wait to see more pictures of your roses as they grow.

I never saw tick until we moved to IL. We've only had 1 really bad year for ticks in the past 8 years...but 1 bad year was enough for me.

Hope your roses do well!

Hi Theresa,

I found you through Picket's blog. Oh my, those pillowcases are beautiful! Isn't she the sweetest gal? I just read someplace, that to get ticks off, you put a blob of dish soap on a cotton ball, and dab it on the tick. It is supposed to loosen them easily.
